I Want to Talk to a Person

’ÄúI want to talk to a person’Äù
Is my heart-felt cry of woe,
As recorded messages and telephone
Prompts are the modern way to go.
Good old-fahioned service is
What I crave to see,
But economic rationalism
Has left me all at sea.
’ÄúI want to talk to a person’Äù
My blood pressure is going up,
I wait with anger and frustration
And feel like I want to jump . . .
Down the throat of a CEO
Who is part of a magical plan
To make a company viable
And shareholders rule the land.
I know my call is important,
The recorded message tells me so,
I listen to music held away from my ear
And in my heart I know . . .
’ÄúI want to talk to a person’Äù
Is my heart-felt cry of woe.
