From Vincentia,  Jervis Bay

Curiously, modest holiday homes

become mostly translated

into elaborate reconstructions

of that escaped.

Lacking simplicity, bush

is often supplanted

by the superconcrete kitsch

of suburbia.

Occasionally, benality

is marred irrevocably

by the rare white beauty

of the sands

as, sneakily, the tangled undergrowth

of politely pared lawns

reveals a full ochre sun reflecting

on the uncluttered bay.
