Peter J. F. Newton was born in England in 1935 and came to Australia in 1960. 

He is a freelance writer, specialist editor, reviewer and poet, who has published widely in Australia and overseas. His works include three books of poetry and representation in print and on-line anthologies.   

Peter has served on the directorates of a number of jazz organisations and as a jazz broadcaster.  He is the long-standing editor of Sydney Jazz Club's Quarterly Rag and Chair of the NSW Jazz Archive Inc.
